Force grading system
From the Meridians Wiki · Public · Maintained · joint
A Domain is held by five peer forces: World, System, Causality, Fate, and Theme. The scorecard is a
realisation grade over a selected record interval. Every force owns an equal 20-point share of the
100. A force cannot earn more than its own share to reimburse another force's shortfall. Because the
overall grade still adds the five shares, always read it beside the individual grades and archetype.
The grade reads the record. It never reads generation targets, prose quality, popularity, truth, or a person's worth.
Five realisation ratios
World, System, and Theme are structure forces. For each, breadth is the Shannon entropy of observed slot shares against the declared space; depth is the slot-frequency-weighted recurrence across Scenes. Their realisation ratio is the geometric mean:
ρ_structure = √(breadth · depth)
Fate and Causality read the shared belief trajectory differently:
ρ_fate = min(1, absolute entropy moved / available open entropy)
ρ_causality = min(1, flag information / expected flag information for the interval)
Fate therefore measures movement through possibility, while Causality measures the information carried by realised flags. Theme remains derived and non-writing even though its recurrence evidence receives an equal grade share. A measure being computed does not make it stored.
Each ratio loses points only through its own shortfall:
deduction_f = 20 · (1 − clamp(ρ_f, 0, 1))^2.5
force_f = round(20 − deduction_f)
grade = round(100 − Σ_f deduction_f)
An empty record earns zero. Information above the available space earns no extra credit. The scorecard retains the exact deduction by force so its total remains inspectable.
Archetype profile
The archetype is a separate classification over the five resulting force grades. Each force is either
formed at 17/20 or latent, yielding 2^5 = 32 exact work profiles. Every profile has one explicit,
recognisable work name: Fragment for none formed, Paper for System alone, Chronicle for World
and Causality, and Opus for all five are examples. There is no ascendant, proximity gap, or tie-break.
The profile reuses the Scene Sign's bit order—Fate · World · System · Theme · Causality—without reusing
its name or measurement. A Sign thresholds relative movement in one scene series and names a moment; an
archetype thresholds equal-share grades across the selected record and names a work. Flipping all five
bits gives the counterform, a semantic contrary rather than a quality inverse. The complete naming
table and its 16 contrary pairs live in Pentad archetypes.
Generation targets are not grades
FORCE_REFERENCE_MEANS and FORCE_BANDS tell prompts and pacing what to aim for across the three directly
generated forces. The pentad archetype is a reading of realised evidence, not a generation preset.
Theme and Causality remain derived; the system does not pretend to target them through stored-force
numbers. gradeForces reads none of the generation targets.
Will and Acting remain outside the grade. Will chooses and commits through attributable action. Acting is a post-hoc interpretation of System. Neither is a sixth force.
