Why she buys

Elena can draft prose. Her problem is consequence: if a character makes this move, which other relationships, secrets, and systems must change? A causal simulator can expose branches she has not priced while leaving the final authorial choice with her.

The causal loop

Load the canon → fork a decision → let the world remember → inspect the branch → ask what the character caused → choose, revise, or retry in the manuscript.

Opening objection

“A machine cannot understand the novel.” It need not own the meaning. It must keep the declared world, make assumptions inspectable, and offer priced pathways rather than verdicts.

What the model captures

Characters, locations, systems, open Fate, branch commitments, and macro consequences. It does not yet read prose at sentence grain or replace editorial judgment.

What would lose her

Canon drift, uncredited borrowing, one “optimal” ending, or a polished scene that conceals its causal assumptions.

Shipped / direction boundary

Private worldbuilding and branch substrate ship; author usage adds MWS-shaped calls. Automated MWS and micro/screen reading remain direction.

Why she was missing: the old roster treated fiction as a side effect of maintained knowledge, so the author was omitted until the simulation became the centre.

Seeded situation

• Situation: the heir can expose the family’s bargain before the coronation.
• Actors: heir, regent, sibling, creditor, public.
• Incentives: legitimacy, safety, revenge, and keeping the secret.
• Private information: each character knows a different clause.
• Constraints: one ceremony, no neutral archive, irreversible public speech.
• Open Fate question: does disclosure free the heir or make the bargain the new law?
• Candidate moves: expose; bargain privately; frame the sibling; accept the crown.
