# Pentad archetypes

An archetype names the **composition of a whole Domain**. It is not the Sign of one Scene and it is not
the grade. The grade says how fully the record realises all five forces; the archetype says exactly which
forces have formed strongly enough to carry the work.

The old names—Paper, Chronicle, Opus—worked because they felt like made things a reader could recognise,
possess, and compare. The pentad keeps that commodity quality while making the split complete. Each force
is formed at `17/20`, so five binary readings produce `2^5 = Σ C(5,k) = 32` profiles. There is no ascendant,
companion gap, or tie-break: every combination has one explicit name.

## One coordinate, two interpretations

Archetypes and the pre-existing 32 Scene Signs share the persisted bit order
`Fate · World · System · Theme · Causality`, but read it at different altitudes:

The Sign names an event or phase—*Apotheosis*, *Aftermath*, *Lore*. The archetype names a work-form—
*Opus*, *Loom*, *Paper*. Names never overlap between the two vocabularies, so a reader can tell which
altitude is speaking even when the five-bit coordinate is hidden.

The five semantic dimensions remain **Vessel** (World/embodiment), **Codex** (System/constraint),
**Loom** (Causality/connection), **Compass** (Fate/possibility), and **Mirror** (Theme/recurrence).
They explain the forces; the 32 names below classify the resulting works.

## Sixteen contrary pairs

Flipping every `H` to `L` and every `L` to `H` gives a profile's **counterform**. This is a semantic
contrary, not a good/bad axis: it asks what the work would resemble if every formed force were latent and
every latent force formed. The same operation also pairs the existing Scene Signs.

The pair is an adversarial naming check. *Opus/Fragment* makes completeness legible. *Romance/Paper*
contrasts embodied possibility and meaning with an abstract system. *Myth/Loom* contrasts an implicit
causal chain with causality standing alone. A pair that cannot explain its reversal has not earned its
names.

## Reading the result

The number of formed forces is descriptive, not a prestige ladder. A focused Paper can be excellent at
what it is; an Opus merely says that all five shares cleared the formation threshold. Read the overall
grade and five force shares for realisation, the archetype for composition, the counterform for contrast,
and the Scene Sign chain for cadence.

The icon follows the same separation. A Scene Sign is a filled five-facet moment. A Domain archetype is
an outlined pentagon whose formed semantic nodes are lit; any coupling chords are fitted from that record,
not prescribed by the pentad. The shared geometry makes the distinction visible without pretending that
scene intensity and whole-work formation are the same measure.
