Threads

Open questions the domain is open on. Each thread is a question ("Does she take the throne?") with a set of named outcomes (binary ["yes", "no"] or multi-outcome ["Stark", "Lannister", "Targaryen", "nobody"]). Threads are the substrate's mechanism for tracking everything in the story that hasn't yet resolved.

Each Fate log node carries one of nine atomic movement types: setup, escalation, resistance, complication, twist, payoff, opening, pulse, or closure. Opening brings a previously marginal, remote, or unconsidered possibility into genuine contention while the standing leader holds. Closure removes one non-leading but previously viable possibility from contention while the Thread itself remains open; payoff resolves the whole Thread. The model chooses the movement from the meaning of the moment; addOutcomes independently expands the declared market when its existing outcomes cannot represent that possibility. Dormant returns and expected-but-absent movement are sequence interpretations, not stored movement types.
