# 7. Change protocol

When a user-facing route, CTA, activation milestone, or continuation changes:

1. update the relevant row in this document;
2. update its owning feature spec or Gateway contract;
3. update [BRAND_COPY.md](../BRAND_COPY.md) only if the reusable language changed;
4. update [POSITIONING.md](../positioning/index.md) only if the product claim or shipped boundary changed;
5. add or update the boundary event and the success/recovery test;
6. run `npm run gen:tree` if files were added, moved, or removed.
